Frequently Asked Questions About How to Proceed

Services & Recommended Procedures

I am a high intelligence specialist whose main interests concern the whole person, not just their intellectual level or profile. Intelligence affects almost every other facet of our lives, and my goal is to help families and individuals know what will work best for them. My expertise has been growing for nearly 30 years, and my consultancy has evolved over the past 10 years or more, and will continue to do so as I learn from experience.

I have designed a process that seems to work very well for most people, and I have delineated recommended steps and procedures below, steps that depend upon your own needs and goals. If you are interested in further social, emotional or academic evaluation, please see Other Assessments and Services

General Fees and Information

You must inquire by email or phone about fees after you’ve read through the recommended steps to see what fits your family’s needs best. All payments are due at the time of each service by cash, check or credit card (VISA or MasterCard). Medical insurance does not cover educational evaluations, but some medical savings plans do. Some clients have been told that their expenses are tax deductible, but you should check with your own accountant before assuming that is the situation in your case. I am a member of both the Minnesota Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association, but I am not trained or licensed as a therapist. If it appears after evaluations and meeting with the family that therapy – either psychological or medical interventions or treatment – are advisable, I will give you recommendations and contact information for professionals who are qualified to provide such treatments.

Option #1: Your family travels to Minneapolis

Many clients fly or drive to the Minneapolis area where Educational Options is located. If this is an option for your family, my office can help you make the necessary arrangements by recommending a family-friendly nearby hotel, listing some local area attractions, and scheduling the assessments and consultation to allow for the optimum performance of your child(ren) – so they are rested and ready to concentrate – and a travel schedule that keeps your own needs in mind. It is important to remember that both parents must attend the follow-up consultation in order to maximize its long-term effectiveness for your family.
